About Aurangabad Region
The Department of Technical Education was established in 1948 to bring various activities pertaining of Technical Education & all levels, under one roof. This Department was made responsible to administer & control various activities pertaining to Engineering Colleges, Technological Institutes, Polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes, Industrial School, Technical School, Government Industrial Training Workshops & other Certificate Courses concerned with Vocational & Technical Training. In addition to this, the responsibility of Post Graduate Courses & Research was also shouldered by this Department. Since the last four decades the activities of various programmes under the Directorate of Technical Education have increased tremendously & in order to meet the skilled manpower requirement, the training activities have been increased by way of Starting new Government as well as Private institutes in the Maharashtra. In order to have a smooth functioning of these activities the Directorate of Technical Education is bifurcated in two separate Directorates namely The administrative responsibilities in respect of Craftsman Training Scheme ( Industrial Training Institutes), Government Industrial Training Workshops, Vocationalization of Education at +2 stage, Technical Education at Secondary level & Certificate & allied Vocational Courses are entrusted with the Directorate of Vocational Education & Training
  • To ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the industry.
  • To raise the quality & quantity of industrial production by systematic training of workers.
  • To reduce unemployment among the educated youth by equipping them for suitable industrial employment.

India has demographic dividend in its favor, and looking forward to become the hub for applying of Skilled Manpower to the world, to become No. 1 economic power globally. This can be accomplished through supply of globally competitive skilled manpower in different sectorial skills. Government of India through aegis like NSDC, NSQF, DGET and Ministry of Skill Development is guiding the programme in all states. Maharashtra being industrially / economically developed state contributes predominantly in this area through Department of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship since 2014. The Skill Development activities in Nashik Region consists all the skill training programme being conducted in Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Ahmednagar and Nandurbar district. Skill Training in various trades through 68 Government Industrial Training Institutes, 149 Pvt Industrial Training Institutes, as well as Government and Non Grant Technical High Schools and Junior colleges as being being monitored by this Regional Directorate. The total manpower trained is around 48,000+ Following are the different projects through which Skill Training is being imparted.
  • Public Private Partnership – 49 Institutes
  • World Bank Project STRIVE – 08 Institutes
Participation of industrial organisation like HAL, BOSCH, MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA, L&T, SIEMENS etc is ensured to enhance the skills of trainees Marginal sectors like women, SC, ST, and Minority are being taken care of with special quotas in the region 2 Full fledged women Institutes, 30 Tribal Institutes and 27 special units and trades for minority are run in the region. This Region had participated in All India Skill Competition and 16 students have won medals through there excellence. During the pandemic last year, Online training, CBT Tests have helped the trainees to continue their skill training. National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme is being effectively employed in the region. Overall this region had been contributing in creating impact in Skill Development area and  look forward to do so with help of industries to contribute Maharashtra as State and the Nation its best in achieving Goals in advanced Skills.
